Place rice, sweet potato pieces, salt to taste and sake in the rice cooker. Put your hand flat on the top of the rice and pour in cold water until it reaches where your wrist starts. Rinse the rice several times and drain using a colander. Set aside for about an hour before placing in the inner bowl of your rice cooker.

Instructions to make Japanese Sweet Potato Rice:
  1. Wash the rice in water until the water becomes almost clear. Soak the rice into water for 30mins.
  2. Wash the sweet potato very well and cut it into dices(no need to peal).
  3. Place the rice into a rice cooker with 350ml of water. Add sesame oil and salt. Add the sweet potatoes on top and cook it as usual. Finish!

Rinse the rice several times and drain using a colander. Set aside for about an hour before placing in the inner bowl of your rice cooker. Add water to the level for cooking ordinary rice, then add. Peel the sweet potatoes and rinse in cold water. Cut them into ½ inch cubes.
