  5. Take 2 tspoon grated coconut
  6. Prepare 2 tbspoon oil

How to make sweet and sour dal: Rinse Bengal garm and add beet root pieces to it and cook in a cooker. When cooked add turmeric powder,salt,coriander powder,jaggery,dry dates,tamarind juice,curry leaves,groundnut,chilly paste and boil. Prepare the seasoning-Heat oil and add asafetida,cloves,butter,cumin seeds,mustard seeds,cinnamon.

Instructions to make Sweet and sour dal:
  1. Heat deep pan, add oil to it.chop green chillies.
  2. Add cumin and mustard seeds,let it splutter.add green chillies.saute add cooked pigeon pea dal.mix well.while cooking dal I have added asefoetida and turmeric powder and 1 tspoon oil to it.
  3. Add goda masala, Red chilly powder and turmeric powder. Add tamarind pulp and jaggary to it. Add salt. Allow it to cook for ten minutes on medium heat. Add grated coconut.you can add coariander leaves also but my family prefers without it.serve hot with rice,ghee and papad.this is heavenly combination.do try this recipe.

When cooked add turmeric powder,salt,coriander powder,jaggery,dry dates,tamarind juice,curry leaves,groundnut,chilly paste and boil. Prepare the seasoning-Heat oil and add asafetida,cloves,butter,cumin seeds,mustard seeds,cinnamon. The consistency of this dal is medium-thin with a mild sweet-sour taste. The sweetness comes from jaggery (Indian unrefined cane sugar) and the sourness comes from kokum (garcinia indica). Note that kokum may be difficult to procure, so you could opt to get that sour taste from lemon juice or tamarind pulp.
